Access Grid looks like minority report, minus the scientology enthusiast. Crazy futuristic video conferencing that’s probably spendy, seeing as NASA is a fan of it. Still, if some of it’s concepts can be scaled down, might be something we can use some day. It’s based on free software, and there’s plenty of documentation.

We have been looking at this for quite a while I believe [i.e. AG]. I read through one of the articles (http://www.accessgrid.org/agdp/tutorial/video-troubleshooting/video-troubleshooting.html) and it looks quite promising. I’m installing VIC (the video backed to AG) right now to see what it is like. It runs on Linux and Windows and many things. A test shall be in order shortly maybe?
The main reason I’m responding is to say one thing: webcams might not be part of our solution. Here in TW you can get a video camera (like, the kind used to hook to a CCTV system) and the related input card for about 75USD. I think the quality could be better than that of most webcams, and possibly the iSight too (which as we know won’t work so well on some OSe
Anyhow, just my thought.
